Molly was raised and born in Pennsylvania. Molly began her professional career at the age of thirteen in the Philadelphia's Prince Music Theater. She portrayed Little Red Ridinghood shortly after in the Arden Theater s Into the Woods production for which she won an Barrymore Award nomination. In 2002, she performed the same role in Into the Woods in Broadway aged 15 and received a Drama League Award nomination. Molly was also a part of the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof, in the year 2004. She was a student at Princeton University as a Triangle Club member and graduated with a B.A. Then she attended Princeton University, where she was part of the Triangle Club. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2008. When she was in the university, Molly began her acting career with Disney College Road Trip playing Wendy Greenhut. After graduation Molly appeared in a variety of Off-Broadway plays including End Days at Ensemble Studio Theater and also in television work including Royal Pains and an HBO Pilot The Wonderful Maladys. Molly played part of the in the 2008 Barrington Stage Company production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as well as in the the Westport Country Theater's staging of The Diary of Anne Frank which she performed as Anne. Molly is most well-known as the character Ali the teenage daughter in Paranormal Activity 2, a film that was released in 2010.
